Lots of visitors

Well, once again, I am far behind in updating the website (though by reading the blogs of many of the rest of you, I am not the only one who doesn't keep up as regularly as intended!). The good news is, I have lots of photos to update from the last month or so. We have had lots going on!! We have had lots of visitors in the last month. Aunt Laura came twice, Grandma and Grandpa came to visit too. We spent all day at the mall...some of us shopping, others of us playing:

Conor loves water so the fountain was very exciting. Grandpa and Laura taught him how to throw pennies in!



He was a handful so it's a good thing there were a handful of us to take turns chasing him. Grandpa took him on a little photo shoot, trying on different sunglasses and hats!

And then Grandpa helped Conor play in the fountain (notice how Grandpa is always involved in things that might get Conor into trouble someday!)

Even though it was practically a zoo, we let Conor play in the kids playland area for a while. His new favorite thing is slides, so he was so excited to find a slide there too.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

The weekend before St. Patrick's Day, Aunt Leah made the trip down. We took her on the train to see the St. Patrick's Day parade and to see the Chicago River dyed neon green!

And of course, she had to drink a green beer! Cheers!


On Sunday, the weather was beautiful, so we spent the afternoon at the park before sending Leah on the road back home. Conor still absolutely loves to be outdoors. He now prefers the slide over the swings at the park, and loves to explore the other "toddler" toys there too!!

As promised...

Here are some of the better pictures from the last few weeks...without snotty noses, dark tired eyes, and cheeks red with fever!!

Conor has been doing a lot of different arts & crafts projects at daycare, so we thought we'd try it at home too. We used his washable markers and crayons to draw, but most of the color ended up on his fingers and mouth rather than on the paper...guess we'll have to keep working on this.

Time for a photo shoot after the bath. Conor still loves bathtime...seems to be one of his favorite parts of the day. He will drop whatever he's doing and head straight upstairs whenever we say it's time for a bath. He sometimes tries to get in the tub before we can even get him undressed.

We've been sick!!

We've all been sick around here so we haven't been so good about updating the website. Conor had a horrible diaper rash, then a horrible cold, which turned into a double ear infection and a very red throat (the pediatrician said we didn't need to do a strep test since he would already be getting antibiotics for the ear infections). Despite how sick he was, and the three days of fever, he really was a trooper through it all. As he was starting to turn the corner, I got a sore throat and completely lost my voice. I spent one whole day at work basically whispering because no sound would come out (I felt bad for the transcriptionist that day!), and three more days with a scratchy voice. Conor still has a runny nose, I still have a cough, and now Adam has come down with a very sore throat, so I guess it's his turn. Hopefully by next week, we will all be back to 100%. Adam is really swamped with his classes once again. He spends every night and most of every weekend in the basement or at the library, reading and writing papers. So that's what we've been up to. I will try to post more pics soon.

What we've been doing to keep warm!

Well, as our local friends know, and the rest of you have probably seen on the news, it has been extrememly cold here lately. The temperatures have been in the teens-below-zero category with wind chills as much as 30-and-40-below!! Adam and I celebrated our 6th anniversary this past weekend and as we went out to a routine dinner and a movie in our hats, scarves, mittens, and boots, I asked him, "Whose idea was it to get married in January in a cold state anyway?" He answered, "Well, yours, of course, and I love you so much I would've done anything to keep you happy!!" The other major event around here last week was Adam's return to school and Conor beginning a new daycare. He is definitely adjusting, but is doing pretty well, all things considered.

Here are some things we have done while trying to keep warm around home:

Conor found a new fun place to play...sitting in the sink and playing in the water...not a good "winter" game when your wet clothes get cold.

Conor has always enjoyed Elmo, but now suddenly remembers that he can watch Elmo movies on DVD so he is always walking up to the TV saying "Eh-mo, Eh-mo". We actually had him sitting still for a whole 30 minutes here under this blanket while we took down Christmas decorations.

Wishing for warmer weather by trying on Dad's shades and wearing shirts from Mom's North Carolina alma mater, Elon University.

Trying to build a warmer place on the new workbench Grandma and Grandpa got Conor for Christmas.

Conor is developing new skills and learning new things so quickly these days. He is recognizing more and more people (and even photos) by name. He is folding his hands and saying amen when we say it's time for nighttime prayers (and already knows the first half of the sign of the cross). He still loves to read, dance, and eat, and never sits still for long. Looking forward to warmer weather when we can play outside again.
