Dogs, Weddings, Mother's Day, and Summer Vacation

Well, we've been quite busy with new activities and outings lately. We've found out how much Conor loves dogs, he just lights up and squeals whenever he sees one. He has no fear for doggie kisses either...and Daddy thinks those are great reasons for us to get one. (I'm still holding out though, at least until we have a real yard.) He is constantly on the move, never sits still...and now that he can stand and crawl and cruise along the furniture, we know that walking isn't far behind. And he is definitely the life of any party. He will not miss a beat...and CERTAINLY will not fall asleep if it means he might miss out on something. So he was out pretty late at his first wedding last weekend. We had a wonderful Mother's Day...never realized what a truly special day it was for mom's until it was MY day too!! (Thanks Mom!!) Conor had his last day of daycare before summer vacation last week too. Here are some pics of our latest adventures:. Enjoy!

Happy May Day

Conor's latest feats (in the past few weeks):
1. Figuring out how to transition from sitting to crawling on his own
2. Pulling himself up to stand

3. Fighting sleep more and more--he hates to miss anything, so naps and bedtime are a challenge
4. Moving up to "3rd" foods...6 ounces at a time and he still wants to eat off mommy's plate too, just minutes later!!
5. Making funny faces...on purpose
6. Watching thunderstorms

7. Understanding the word "no"...or at least the stern voice that goes with it

Giving it a try

Well, blogging seems to be the popular thing to do these days, so here I am joining the ranks. I'm gonna give it a try, but no promises about how diligent I'll be in updating it. (You know me!) I have tried to convert most of his free babysite page to this blog, because I have no constraints on memory here. Conor is supposed to be going to bed right now, but has been screaming for the last 3o minutes, so I think it's time to go rescue him. We'll try this again later.

Waiting for warmer weather...

We are anxiously awaiting spring at our house so we can spend more time outside. We are tired of bundling up in hats, mittens, jackets, snowsuits, and blankets just to go for a walk around the neighborhood. We have been teased with a few "warmer" days (like 50 degrees) and we have seen the spectrum of sunshine to rainstorms...but we want to play outside!!!

Conor is certainly changing daily. We have battled and survived our first major cold and a raging double ear infection. On a happier note, he is rolling over all the time, and crawling everywhere he can go. Time for the outlet covers and baby gates!! He loves to sit up, but never stays still for very long. He is always on the move, and definitely eats enough to keep up that energy. He has managed to finally "sprout" his first tooth. And this morning, he pulled himself up to stand in his crib!

Even with all the fussy days, and the short naps, we feel so blessed to be the parents of a such a wonderful child.

Happy St. Patrick's Day and Happy Easter!

Wow. Two major holidays in one week for our family. We celebrated St. Patrick's Day by going downtown Chicago to see the parade and the green river...an annual tradition in our family. Although Conor slept through the whole parade, he loved the train ride and charmed the other riders. For Easter, we visited Conor's godparents and had a wonderful time meeting the rest of their family. Conor and Daddy had matching outfits for church and were a stunning pair.
Other than that, things are rapidly changing at our house. Conor is rolling, sitting up, starting to army crawl or inchworm his way around, and is eating all kinds of "solid" (i.e. mushy) fruits, vegetables, and cereals. He is a great eater and has not been too picky overall. We are truly enjoying every moment of being a family and love watching Conor reach new milestones day by day.
