We did plenty of other fun things to pass the time (which always passes too quickly) on our week-long vacation to Minnesota.
We went to a few local parks and rode the slides, rode the swings, made some music, and even found a splash area.
Conor did lots of puzzles including completing a 100-piece puzzle all by himself for the first time. See how it is Looney Tunes--probably a puzzle I played with as a kid.
We went to the "beach" (which has a whole new meaning to me since living in NC, but in MN there are 10,000+ beaches at each of the many lakes). Conor loved playing in the sand and water, Riley wasn't quite as sure about it (but in her defense, it was nap time). I had a blast too, I've always been a water girl!
We played in the pool in Grandma and Grandpa's backyard....again, Conor liked being in the pool, whereas Riley liked to splash more from outside the pool.
Laura even joined Conor in taking a dip on one of the really hot days.
Funny story about this day in the pool:
Laura has recently started dating a new guy, Nick, and he spent part of July 4th with us and came over another time for one of our famous "Family Movie Nights" (Conor even wanted to wait until he got there to make sure we didn't start the movie without him). Well, on this particular day, Nick happened to call to talk to Laura while she was in the pool. After she hung up with him, Conor asked her: "So, what's so cool about Nick anyway?" After a little giggle, Laura answered, "Well, he's nice and smart and he likes sports." So Conor said, "Oh, ok." Guess her answers were acceptable to him. As if that wasn't funny enough, about 10 minutes later, they were talking about something else, and Laura said, "Conor, you're so smart." Without skipping a beat, he said, "Yeah, just like Nick, right?"
