Winter Olympics 2010

We have been watching the Olympics and even Conor is getting into them. He loves to watch the skiing, but he has also enjoyed "finger" skating and "culling" (he says curling without the r as if he has some sort of speech impediment, it's really cute). We have been very patriotic around our house, and naturally quite unproductive as we try to cheer on team USA. Thank goodness the Olympics are only two weeks long or we wouldn't get anything done! Anyone else have that problem?

February Fun

I am well aware that I am long overdue for an update. We actually didn't take many pictures in January, so we tried to be better about it in the past couple of weeks. Here are some of the more entertaining moments we have encountered:

Conor is VERY excited about becoming a big brother. He gives the baby (i.e. my belly) hugs and kisses every night before bed and sometimes other times during the day. He always has to lift my shirt to do so, but then makes sure to cover it back up because "the baby is cold, Mommy". How sweet is he. From the very beginning, he has said that it is a baby sister, and he has gone through several names he would like to call the baby, including Baby Snake, Baby Jane, and Baby Einstein. We'll have to wait and see. Only in the last week has he even considered it a possibility that it could be a baby brother. He is preparing himself to be a great big brother, and after recently having a library book by this title, says that he will be the "Best Ever Big Brother". He has agreed that he will be very helpful with the baby and is eager to teach it things. Recently, he has already started the important big brother job of teaching the baby shapes and colors with his own set of blocks.

He also loves to help Mommy clean the house. He loves to sweep and dust, I only hope that stays true when he is big enough to actually be helpful with those chores :)

He love to take pictures and look at them. Here he is testing out the new photo/video camera his godparents gave him for Christmas. He is still learning the concept of aiming! :)
He has a very vivid imagination which we are really starting to appreciate in the last month or two. This helps him to play independently so well when I am trying to make dinner or do dishes. Here he is singing "Wheels on the Bus", using his bowl as a steering wheel while he waits for me to serve dinner.
And when that gets old, he finds himself a hat.
He and daddy were flipping through the channels one night and found a rodeo on T.V. so of course they had to try it to, cowboy lingo and all. It is so funny to hear his sweet little voice try to grunt out, "Yee haw" and "Ride 'em cowboy" and "Giddyup".
Proper cowboy rodeo technique...only one hand on the bull.
Tandem riding!
Showing off his Valentine's Day present, a new pair of Toy Story pajamas. These were quite a hit, which was a great relief, because he has been in a phase where he likes to take off his jammies as soon as we leave his room at bedtime, or where he will only wear a t-shirt and no pants. We like to keep the house pretty cold at night, especially for the pregnant woman, and Conor tosses and turns a lot in his sleep ending up uncovered. Hence, a new pair of long-sleeve-shirt-and-pants pajamas that he is excited to wear were a big hit with all of us!
