Uh-Oh!! A Snag in the Blog

We are on a blogging hiatus for the moment as I had downloaded more than a week's worth of pictures onto our external hard drive and for some reason now I can't access them. We are, of course, still taking more photos, and I will update soon, but I am missing some great ones from Father's Day and a few other outings we've had! Stay posted.

Pride of the Fox Riverfest

A week ago we spent an afternoon with our friends Turk and Kari, Riley's godparents, at a local festival called Pride of the Fox Riverfest. There were plenty of games, food, rides, activities, and fun. Conor's favorite part was the bouncy rides and slides...thanks to Turk and Kari for buying him a bracelet for unlimited rides. We got to watch a waterski show, dragonboat races, and a dog show. The weather was perfect and we had a really fun time.

Here is Conor coming down the inflatable slide....
Gotta love that big grin on his face!
He also loved the inflatable obstacle course. It was so much fun to watch him climb over, under, and up each component.
Waiting to see him come out the end of the obstacle course, cheering him on
And the great finish, down another slide! The first time he came down, he slid down and rolled and flipped like a fish. It was hilarious, and he loved it.
Watching and cheering on the next kids
Sweet girl, waiting for the day when she is big enough to do all that fun stuff
Conor "climbed" this wall (with a little help from the belayer holding his harness)
Made it to the top, maybe about 25 feet!! No fear!

Picnic at the Park

Over the last couple weeks I had taken some time of work to take a super intense review course, study and take my recertification exam for my boards. My class was from 7am to 6pm 4 days in a row and 7am to noon the fifth day. At the end of the first four days, I had to come home and take a two-hour 120-question test each night. I was exhausted. So over the next few days, I spent a few hours each day studying, and the rest of the time hanging out with the family doing fun simple stuff.

One day we took a walk to play at the park for a while, and packed a picnic lunch. It was a blast...and a great study break! I love these kids.

Peekaboo Guess Who

I heard Riley fussing in that frustrated sound she makes when she can't reach or get something she wants. When I peeked in from the kitchen, this is what I saw...she was looking at her carseat with a pair of legs hanging out of it. (It was real hot and we had resisted turning on the air conditioner yet, which explains the choice of attire.)
Peek-a-boo!!

Memorial Day Pool Party

We spent Memorial Day at the Torio's splashing in the pool, sprinkler, and slip-and-slide. It was very hot, but the kids had a great time. I am so glad they love to be outside and that they love the water as much as Adam and I do. I didn't get as many pictures of Conor because he didn't stay in one place for too long!!
Not happy when the bigger kids splashed her before she was ready to be wet!
Brrrr!!! That water is COLD!
Thanks to all the veterans who have served and especially to those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. Your lives do not go forgotten.

We tried...

This started out as an attempt to get a cute photo of the kids who both had the same color turquoise in their outfits without planning it. I thought I could get some really cool color coordinated pics but they were not cooperating. Daddy tried to help without much luck.

We Love Our Daddy

However, we did get some great shots of Daddy with each of the kids.

Splish Splash

We have enjoyed some of the warm sunny days this summer playing outside with the pirate ship water table that Conor got for his birthday this year. Both kids absolutely love splashing and pouring and squirting and just getting wet!
Conor is at a great age where he is really starting to use his imagination more. So fun to see.

Saturday in the Park

Saturday in the Park...I think it was the 4th of July, you know that song? Well, it was actually the 4th of June, but we had a great day in the park today. Daddy ran another 5K early this morning, and lucky for me BOTH kids slept in until 8:30!!! We spent the morning with the kids in just diapers or underwear as we tried to postpone turning the air conditioner on, but when they were nearly naked and still sweating, I decided it was time to cave in. After breakfast, we took a trip to the library where we checked out a record number of books because Conor is so excited about learning to read and Riley loves the "lift the flap" books these days. After that we went to the free splash fountain park nearby. We played in the water, packed a picnic lunch, fed the ducks, romped around on the playground, then came home to take some VERY long naps!!
Look, Mom, I'm jumping on a trampoline!
Picnic!!
Splish splash. Riley was a bit hesitant about entering the fountains on her own, but had no fear of getting wet or running through the towers of water with mommy.

Random Photos from the Last Few Weeks

We spend many Saturday mornings after breakfast turning up the radio and having a "Saturday Morning Dance Party"! Daddy has been teaching Conor some fancy new moves from the 80s, you'll have to ask him to show you sometime. Boogie on!
Getting ready to go to "school" (i.e. daycare) one morningLunchtime! This kid sure loves to eat. Neither one of them is picky at mealtimes. The hardest part is telling them it's time to be done. Adam often repeats the stories he's been told from his childhood where he was the last one to come down from the table and would cry and throw fits when he was told he had to be done...Riley clearly got that same gene.
