We have a little spring fever around here. Even though Chicago is having a great postseason in both basketball and hockey, we are ready for the warmer summer season that is associated with baseball. It has been raining here like cats and dogs lately, but we try to get outside whenever the sun pops out. Last week, Daddy bought Conor a new "bay-ball gub" as he pronounces it. He proudly wears it around the house even though it's about 5 times as big as his hand. He loves to throw the ball and we are still getting him to decide between "Go Twins" (much easier so say so I think I have an advantage) and "Go White Sox"!

One afternoon, when he was supposed to be taking a nap, I heard him talking and playing and after some silence, I heard a rustling sound. Sure he was up to no good, I peeked in on him to find he had reached into the box of diapers on the floor next to his crib and pulled out nearly every one to make a pile next to him. He thought it was so fun!! He never did take a nap that day!

He is very much into his imitating phase. Yesterday, he wanted to wear Mommy's shoes. I think they kind of look like scuba flippers on him.

Well, he's fussing again while he's supposed to be taking his nap (he's been in there for over an hour)...better go get him. Any ideas for getting him to nap?...let me know....

What do you do with your Easter Eggs?

We spent Saturday afternoon making egg salad with all our pretty colored Easter Eggs. Conor was very helpful in the kitchen. He cracked all the eggs, then I peeled them. He also helped mix in the mayonnaise and dump in the celery salt. Well, that was a bad idea because he got a little carried away before I could stop him, soooo...we had to boil a few more eggs and add some more mayo to make up for the extra salt. Overall, the egg salad turned out pretty good and Conor definitely had a great time helping!!

Easter Celebrations

Well, another holiday has come and gone. Easter was a whirlwind for us. Mommy was on call all weekend and had a very busy weekend with work, but somehow we still managed to do most of the Easter festivities. Saturday afternoon, we made it to the Easter Egg hunt in town. It was mad chaos and all we got was 2 already-opened-and-emptied plastic eggs and 3 small chocolate eggs. Conor didn't seem to mind, though he did keep asking for "more chocolate??" He sat very well to get his picture taken with the Easter Bunny and he wasn't scared at all!
Later that evening, Conor helped us dye the Easter Eggs.

On Sunday, Mommy went to church super early before going in to work, so Daddy and Conor were on their own. Doesn't he look so handsome??!

After church, we went to Conor's godparents' house for dinner. Mommy was able to join everyone for the delicious meal before having to leave again for work. By the time Mommy got home, Conor was in bed. Lucky for us, the Easter Bunny was able to deliver the basket and hide the eggs at our house on Monday instead. So when we all got home on Monday, Conor found all the eggs within minutes and was again thrilled to see that there was "more chocolate!!"

That's our Easter weekend in a nutshell...or an eggshell (he he he, I know, I'm totally corny!!!)

Now that spring is gearing up, we're starting the battle of getting Conor to say "Go White Sox" or "Go Twins"...could be a confusing battle for him!!

These are some links to some video messages we sent to my family of Conor making some of his funny faces and some animal sounds. Make sure to turn up your volume when you click on the links, and be patient, it might take a minute to load!

Story time and swimming lessons

Every night before bed, we read a story (or two or three or four) to Conor, before saying prayers and turning out the lights. He loves books!!! This is one of his current favorites: Dinosaur Roar!!! He loves to repeat the "roar" and read right along with us. Daddy is a great story teller, getting very animated and making storytime lots of fun!!
My two favorite guys!!

Yesterday, we started swimming lessons. Conor was all excited about going, we tried on his swim trunks the night before and talked about it as soon as he woke up and all during breakfast. He couldn't wait to get his coat on and get in the car. When we got to the pool, he couldn't wait to get undressed and wanted to get in the water right away. I thought he would love it since he loves bathtime and has always loved the pool on our family vacations. However, once we got in, he was very clingy to mommy and wouldn't even let daddy help him most of the time. He was not afraid of the water and it was very warm in there, so I guess it was just all the new people and the new place. And maybe the fact that we were trying to follow the structure of the lesson, and not let him do it "Conor's way"!! He is very much an independent soul these days and is getting very good at throwing tantrums...I guess it's the beginning of those dreaded terrible twos.

Jumping in

Kicking

We have been practicing our Easter Egg Hunt around the house. Conor loves it when I hide a little fruit snack in each individual egg...makes for a fun way to have a snack, and several minutes of entertainment. Stay tuned next week for pictures from our town's Egg Hunt with the Easter Bunny. We plan to go unless it is super cold and snowy--like today!!

Lots of visitors

Well, once again, I am far behind in updating the website (though by reading the blogs of many of the rest of you, I am not the only one who doesn't keep up as regularly as intended!). The good news is, I have lots of photos to update from the last month or so. We have had lots going on!! We have had lots of visitors in the last month. Aunt Laura came twice, Grandma and Grandpa came to visit too. We spent all day at the mall...some of us shopping, others of us playing:

Conor loves water so the fountain was very exciting. Grandpa and Laura taught him how to throw pennies in!

He was a handful so it's a good thing there were a handful of us to take turns chasing him. Grandpa took him on a little photo shoot, trying on different sunglasses and hats!

Are we done yet??

He got to ride in the fire truck and train.

Check out that cheesy grin. You think this kid's having fun!??!
Concentrating

And then Grandpa helped Conor play in the fountain (notice how Grandpa is always involved in things that might get Conor into trouble someday!)

Even though it was practically a zoo, we let Conor play in the kids playland area for a while. His new favorite thing is slides, so he was so excited to find a slide there too.

Thanks for visiting, Gamma, Gappa and Lo-la!! (I just noticed that he is always occupied with technological devices-future IT geek?)

Happy St. Patrick's Day

The weekend before St. Patrick's Day, Aunt Leah made the trip down. We took her on the train to see the St. Patrick's Day parade and to see the Chicago River dyed neon green!

And of course, she had to drink a green beer! Cheers!

On Sunday, the weather was beautiful, so we spent the afternoon at the park before sending Leah on the road back home. Conor still absolutely loves to be outdoors. He now prefers the slide over the swings at the park, and loves to explore the other "toddler" toys there too!!

Thanks for coming Le-la!!
